Portfolio Analysis Tools

To assist your office in undertaking a portfolio analysis, a combination of the following tools can be used:

  • Portfolio Scan matrix - use this table to map your projects. Look at the examples as well as the comments in the heading of each column. This initial scan shall help you determine:
    • Which projects should be compliant with the RMG and in which order of priority.
    • Which on-going projects should be "converted" and to which extent, i.e. should all compliance points be applied, and do these project need re-structuring..
  • To populate this table, you can use the following reporting tools:
    • Atlas Snapshot - at the country level, the Snapshot will provide a list of development projects for your office.
    • Resource Planning Framework - An Atlas report that can also be used to get a list development project already approved and those pending approval. Run the report against the fund node "1_DEV" to get a list of all development projects.
  • Conversion Plan by Process and Deliverable - Taking the current status (process: justifying, defining, initiating, running or closing) of your project as the starting point, use this matrix to determine the immediate scope of work required in terms of Management products to be produced for the current process stage.
