Welcome to our new home for tools to help us improve the way we manage progammes and projects.

This Toolkit has been developed primarily for programming and operations management in our country offices, but will have applicability for all UNDP management practitioners. It provides tools and guidance to support the professionalisation and improvement of CO-level UNDP programme & project management practices. As the mechanisms we use to deliver development results, our programmes & projects must be implemented with our partners in a way that ensures accountability, transparency, effectiveness, and efficiency.

The Results Management section of the UNDP User Guide (RMG), released in January 2006 includes the processes, policies, and approaches to be followed in programme & project management, and thus defines the level of competence to be achieved by each CO. Simply stated, this toolkit aims to help each CO successfully follow the policies and practices articulated in the RMG. As such, each stage of the toolkit provides guidance and support materials to assist a CO in “implementing a project” to develop capacities and techniques to plan, manage, and implement programmes & projects more successfully.

Besides this toolkit, the other “branches” of the CEDAR initiative (Capacity for Efficient Delivery of Achievable Results) include improvements to the RMG, release of training modules, and availability of field-based support staff trained to assist you in your CO project management improvement efforts.
